Welcome Back Teacher's Luncheon
In August of each year, the Imperial Chamber is proud to honor the teachers in the Imperial Unified School District with an Appreciation Luncheon. The catered event includes a guest speaker, member donated raffle prizes, and freebees. It is a very small token of appreciation for those who are molding the future of our City.
Parade of Lights
The Imperial Chamber hosts a Parade of Lights on the second Friday of December, followed by the City of Imperial's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This event is a kick-off to Christmas In A Small Town, which follows the next day. Beginning in 2002, the number of participants, vendors, and spectators that take part in the Parade of Lights has continued to grow and reach residents across the entire Imperial Valley. Parade floats/entries are judged and awards are given at Christmas In A Small Town. In addition, the Parade always ends with Santa, who takes pictures and gives candy canes at the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Christmas In A Small Town
Christmas In A Small Town is a day-long event held on the second Saturday of December. Vendors from near and far fill the streets of downtown Imperial to sell their products and services. This event began in 1988 and has grown tremendously throughout the years. The community looks forward to this event each year and it is estimated that close to 10 thousand people show up to shop and support our local community. Santa always makes a presence for free pictures with the kiddos! The Imperial Chamber takes great pride in being able to keep the "Small Town Feel" for our ever-growing city.
Freedom Fest is the largest event in the Imperial Valley. The Imperial Chamber, in partnership with KOX Radio and Imperial Valley College, hosts Freedom Fest on July 4th each year. This family fun event draws close to fifty (50) thousand people from near and far. Beginning at 6 p.m., vendors are on-site to sell food, drinks, and goodies, and there is a "children's area" that provides activities for kids. The event finishes off with a firework show that begins at 9:45 pm, complete with synchronized patriotic music. Regardless of the weather...which is typically 110 degrees, this event always draws a great crowd. This event has been running since 1991 and is going strong!
